Home on Long Island

We always look forward to this time of the year! This is the time of our family vacation and it always comes to slow and goes way too fast! Isn't that always how it works? We have a full two weeks off from work and the daily grind to just be a family and boy do we need it!

Right now we are up on Long Island staying with friends before we make the drive up to our lake house on Lake George, New York. The house was built by my husband's grandfather and it is such a special place for the entire family. His entire family will be there... which is a mixed bag. I love it and hate it. Seventeen people in one house is just not my idea of the perfect vacation. However, the time that Eva gets to spend with her cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles is just priceless and is worth the fights over the bathrooms and the endless amount of work to keep the place tidy!

Whatever you call your time off... vacation, holiday... the truth is that it is the best time to reconnect with the people you love. You also cannot deny the power of the open roads of the US. There is something about packing the car and just pulling out of the highway and driving. This is the year of the stay-cation... get out there and enjoy!

Hey Lori, can you believe it's over!! I still cannot believe that just this morning I woke up in Lake George and now I'm back in Maryland, and worse yet I have to go back to work on Sunday. But that is the way it is. It was so good to be with the family! I have pictures, lots and lots of pictures lol! Well hope to see you soon! Hope your trip home was smooth and easy! Love ME
